Aromatherapy

When we hear the word Aromatherapy, we tend to immediately associate it with scents, smell, and relaxation, but believe it or not, it obviously is! Aromatherapy is considered an alternative medicine that employs aromatic essential oils that are extracted from a wide diverse species of curative plants. When these oils are inhaled or applied to the skin, it has been shown to aid people in overcoming numerous health conditions.

Humans are said to have an estimated 10 million cells for perceiving scents which makes the nose the gateway to the brain! Smell is our most primitive sense and whatever we smell can affect our health and consciousness.

How do essential oils work?

Herbs and plants that have medicinal value contain active ingredients which are beneficial for our health and those ingredients are extracted through distillation; it is then mixed with alcohol to contain their strength level. The result is a very intense oily formula that can be blended with other formulas. Essential oils are used in aromatherapy are mixed with a carrier oil or base oil and they dilute the essential oils before being applied to the skin.

Aromatherapy can be performed in several ways!

-Diffuse a combination of essential oils (or just one) into the air by using an aroma diffuser or humidifier.

-Inhaling oils directly through the nostrils from the bottle.

-Infused your bath with aromatic oils

-Apply the oil directly to the skin

When inhaled, essential oils offer psychological and physical benefits. It stimulates the brain to activate a reaction. Applying it to the skin can aid health problems and improve the beauty and hygienic conditions. In addition to the healing benefits, essential oils can be used in laundry cleaners and household as some oils act as natural pesticides insect repellant.
